Linda Mallett

My current practice is to create artworks entirely from environmentally sustainable materials, virtually all collected within walking distance of where I live and work on the Solway coast. This consolidates the various environmental strands in my work for the past 10 years or so.

About My Practice

In my studio, house and garden you will find seaweed structures, a range of plant papers and inks, and pigments ground from rocks and clays. Contemporary artworks from ancient techniques, plus all the bits in between, from raw materials to finished pieces.

Tools & Materials

I am making 2- and 3-dimensional pieces from seaweeds collected from the shoreline.
I am making a range of papers from a variety of plant materials, both foraged and grown in my garden.
I am making inks from the plant materials and collecting rocks and clays to grind into pigments for paints.
